How KEIK’s Viral Cakes Went From a Home Kitchen to Miami’s Favorite Birthday Tradition

From a Pink Dream to a Miami Reality

KEIK started as a simple but powerful dream: to create the happiest, pinkest restaurant in the world, one cake at a time. In the middle of the 2020 pandemic in Miami, what began as a home baking project quickly turned into a brand that would reshape how the city celebrates birthdays.

Today, KEIK is known as a pink restaurant in Miami where viral cakes, brunch and over‑the‑top celebrations come together under cherry blossoms and rosy interiors. But before there were lines outside the door and multiple locations, there was a tiny home kitchen, a lot of hustle and a belief that every cake could tell a story.

Baking From Home During the Pandemic

In March 2020, when the world stopped, Ale and Wil decided to move forward. With restaurants closed and uncertainty everywhere, they started selling pastries and cakes from home, delivering all over Miami with one bold promise: free delivery across the city.

They didn’t have big capital, investors or a fancy kitchen—just talent, discipline and the decision to reinvest every dollar back into the project. Free delivery helped hundreds of people try KEIK for the first time, even if they didn’t know the brand yet. Each cake that arrived at a new door was an invitation to celebrate, take photos and share.

Cakes Designed to Go Viral in Miami

From the beginning, KEIK cakes were different. They were not just desserts; they were little pink shows built for both taste and camera. Tall layers, creative textures, romantic names, tropical flavors and dramatic toppings made every cake “Instagram‑ready” before the first slice was cut.

Miami loves to share moments online, and KEIK understood that. At every birthday, guests took pictures, posted Reels and stories, and tagged the cakes that stood out on the table. That organic content turned into the best kind of marketing: real people, real parties and real reactions. One celebration at a time, KEIK cakes started to go viral in Miami.

From Home Deliveries to a Tiny Brickell Store

The demand for cakes kept growing, and after just eight months of working from home, it was time for the next step. Ale and Wil opened a very small physical location in Brickell, in the heart of Miami. The space was modest, but the energy was huge.

In that first Brickell store, KEIK began to take shape as a brand: the logo, the pink color, the menu, the way each dessert looked and felt. Weekends often ended in sold‑out pastries and cakes, confirming what the city had already started to say on social media: KEIK was becoming one of Miami’s most exciting spots for dessert and celebrations.

Moving to Doral: From Cakes to a Full Restaurant

Brickell proved that people were willing to line up for KEIK cakes, but the dream was bigger. The founders wanted a home for the brand in Doral, the city where KEIK was born and where they had already built a loyal following through their home‑delivery days.

In November 2021, KEIK opened its first location in Doral, originally focused on desserts. Very quickly, they realized that guests wanted more than cake—they wanted breakfast and brunch too. Pancakes, croissants, sandwiches and other savory dishes joined the menu. At first, not many people knew that KEIK served breakfast, but once the word spread, the Doral location exploded in popularity, with long wait times on weekends and holidays.

The cakes that had gone viral on social media were now part of a bigger experience: a pink restaurant in Miami where guests could brunch, celebrate and finish with a show‑stopping cake.

Viral Cakes and a Growing Pink Restaurant Brand

As KEIK grew, it stopped being just about “where to order a cake” and became “where to celebrate everything.” Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and special moments all found a home under KEIK’s pink ceilings. The brand leaned fully into its identity: cherry blossom decor, romantic dessert names, pink lattes, gold‑tone cutlery and plates designed to be photographed.

For Millennials and Gen Z in Miami, KEIK offered exactly what they were looking for: comfort food, an immersive atmosphere and visually stunning cakes that made every table look like a movie scene. The viral factor was now built into every part of the concept—from pavlovas and Oreo pancakes to the famous birthday cakes that had started it all.

From One Store to Three Locations and a Franchise

The more people shared their KEIK experiences online, the faster the brand grew. The Doral restaurant became so popular that the original space could no longer handle the demand, and the team moved to a larger location with a full menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

At the same time, Ale, Wil and their partners were already documenting every process and designing KEIK as a franchise model. In the following years, KEIK opened two more restaurants: Pembroke Pines and Kendall, turning KEIK into one of Miami’s most innovative and trending restaurant brands. Through all that growth, the cakes remained the heart of the story.

Why KEIK Cakes Became a Birthday Essential in Miami

KEIK cakes became a birthday favorite in Miami because they combine three things people care about:

  • A strong visual impact that looks incredible in photos and videos.

  • Flavors that mix European pastry techniques with tropical notes like passion fruit and guava.

  • A pink, joyful experience that turns every birthday into a full event, not just a slice of cake.

When people search for birthday cakes in Miami today, they are not just looking for a dessert—they’re looking for a moment that feels unique, personal and shareable. KEIK delivers that by making every cake feel like the main character of the celebration.

The Story Behind Every Viral Cake

Behind each viral cake there is a team, a story and a lot of work. Ale brought her relentless work ethic and entrepreneurial mindset, forged from a humble background and years in Miami kitchens, while Wil brought a lifelong passion for baking, restaurant experience and a talent for creating concepts that perform on social media.

Together with their partners, they turned a pandemic side project into a multi‑location brand built around joy, teamwork and pink details. Every time someone blows out candles over a KEIK cake and shares that moment online, they are writing the next chapter of that story.
